How to Make Metal Solvent – Black Desert Online [BDO]

In BDO, metal solvent is used to make tier-three pure metal crystals, such as pure gold crystal and pure lead crystals. Here are instructions on how to make metal solvents on your own if it is unavailable on the central marketplace or you find them to expensive for your taste.

Making Metal Solvent

To make a metal solvent from scratch requires both alchemy, where you need an alchemy skill level of apprentice 1, and processing. If you have never done any alchemy before I would suggest reading my alchemy guide and spend some time making clear liquid reagents and pure powder reagents first.

The recipe for metal solvent is:

  • 1 Clear Liquid Reagent
  • 2 Trace of Savagery
  • 3 Iron Shards
  • 4 Rough Stones

How to Make Clear Liquid Reagent

I have a detailed explanation of how to make Clear Liquid Reagent, but I will address the main points here.

The recipe for clear liquid reagent is 1x purified water, 1x sunrise herb, 1x salt and 1x wild grass/weed.

Once you have these materials you need to mix them together with an alchemy utensil inside your residence. Each batch will give you on average 2.5 clear liquid reagents when your alchemy skill reaches artisan 1.

How to Get Trace of Savagery

There are a few ways to get Trace of Savagery but they are all time consuming and frustrating. Because of this, it will almost certainly be the bottleneck material when it comes to mass production of gem polishers.

The first way to get Trace of Savagery simply to have your workers gather them from the Lynch Farm Ruin gathering node.

You need to activate the excavation gathering node by talking to the node manager and spend energy to get the knowledge of the node. Getting trace of savagery this way is a slow process, but ultimately it is done while you can be occupied with other activities so it’s worth it if you need a lot of trace of savagery.

The second way you can get Trace of Savagery is by heating the following weapons. Each piece will yield 1-2 Traces of Savagery.

  • Ain Longsword
  • Ain Amulet
  • Ain Axe
  • Ain Shortsword
  • Ain Blade
  • Ain Kriegsmaster
  • Ain Gauntlet
  • Ain Longbow
  • Ain Staff

The problem here is that this is a somewhat slow method and can be costly depending on the market value of the weapons. But if you really need Trace of Savagery and there is none on the market then this is a viable method to use.

The third way to get Trace of Savagery is from the rewards for the following daily quests:

  • [Alchemy] Bionier’s Jewels
  • [Alchemy] Chiara’s Hide Treatment
  • [Alchemy] Wocester, Enhancing Plywood
  • [Alchemy] Curtis’ Metal Solvent

The fourth way to get some Traces of Savagery is from Lakario sacks, which you get from Lakiaro gathering using a Manos Hoe. Note that you only get trace items from the higher tiered Lakiaro roots you are able to dig up.

Finally, Trace of Savagery is dropped by the following monsters, with violent types having a guaranteed drop:

  • Small Mane
  • Agile Mane
  • Big Mane
  • Giant Mane
  • Giant Manehair
  • Saunil Fighter
  • Saunil Charger
  • Saunil Commander

How to Get Melted Iron Shards

This is a rather simple step. You only need to heat via processing (“L”) iron ore. When your processing skill has reached artisan 1 you will get on average 2.5 melted iron shards for every 5 iron ore you heat. Iron ore is plentyful in Black Desert Online. There are numerous gathering nodes where you can have your workers gather it and you also get it from mining several types of rocks.

How to Get Rough Stones.

The only way to get rough stones is by mining. You need to get yourself a pickaxe and start running around searching for rocks to mine. Every type of rock has a chance of giving you rough stones. You can read my gathering guide to get tips on how to speed up your gathering activities.

Making Metal Solvent

Again, once you have gathered the required materials you need to blend them together using an alchemy tool. If you have never done any alchemy you should first read my alchemy guide but as mentioned before you will need to get a house, get an alchemy tool, place it in your house, press R next to it, place the correct amount of materials in the tool (just the materials for a single batch) and then start the process.

Once done you will get either 1 or 2 metal solvents from each batch with an average of 1.5 each batch once your alchemy skill reaches artisan level 1. You will, of course, get the extra materials as is usual for alchemy, but you also get Shinning Powder, which is a valuable ingredient used in several alchemical concoctions.

So, that’s about all there is to crafting metal solvent in Black Desert Online. Now if you liked this guide then be sure to share it with your friends and allies and feel free to check out my other Black Desert Online guides.
