The glider you get from the early quests is a pretty weak version of the glider you can ultimately get. And getting a much better glider is really easy. In three easy steps, you can go from the horrid experimental glider to an ultimate glider which is faster, more maneuverable and has a longer flight time.
The ultimate glider is not the best glider in Archeage, but the ease of getting to it from the experimental glider makes it almost a no brainer to start with. And if you enjoy using that glider you should then consider moving to the more advanced gliders. Many players find all the gliders to be annoying so it’s good to try out a high-end one without spending too many resources to see if you find them useful enough to justify the cost.
You can also make an ultimate glider from scratch, which is something to do if you don’t want to spend an extra 15 Gilda stars or if for some reason you missed the quest which gives you an experimental glider. But let’s start on how to upgrade the experimental glider.
Upgrading Your Experimental Glider in Archeage Unchained
Step 1. Buying the Needed Glider Designs.
The first step is to buy the three glider designs you will need from Mirage Isle. If you have never been there, you need to use the square gateway with a blueish glow next to a funny looking blue NPC to get there. The image below shows a gateway to Mirage Isle and the location where the glider designs can be bought. You need to interact with the gliders themselves to buy the designs.
Assuming you already have the experimental glider design, you will need to buy the following designs for a total of 30 Gilda stars.
- Improved glider design – 5 Gilda stars
- Enhanced glider design – 10 Gilda stars
- Ultimate glider design – 15 Gilda stars
2. Finding a Carpentry Workbench
These workbenches are found in most villages and towns. Once you find one use it and search for “glider” in the search bar. You will find what we are searching for under basic gliders.
3. Upgrading Your Glider

If you want to complete the “Airshow Expert” collection achievement you need to equip and use each glider type before you upgrade it to the next level.
The next step is easy enough. Just start by crafting the improved glider by using your design and the experimental glider, next craft the enhanced glider by using that design and your newly created improved glider, and finally craft your ultimate glider by using the ultimate glider design and you enhanced glider. If everything worked you should now have a working ultimate glider.
Making an Ultimate Glider From Scratch
Now I feel like a lot of players miss this option as they search for “Glider” in the search menu. But you can make an ultimate glider from scratch and save yourself 15 Gilda stars. To do so you only need to collect 15 lumber, 15 leather, 15 fabric and 15 iron ingots. This with the ultimate glider design, which you still need to buy from Mirage Isle, are the ingredients for an ultimate glider.
This way will cost you a good bit of gold but you are saving 15 Gilda stars in return. Depending on the material cost and how easy it is for you to get Gilda stars this may be a better way for you to get the ultimate glider.
How Much Better is the Ultimate Glider.
It’s hard to describe the difference. The ultimate glider is much faster and more maneuverable. You also get a way better glide which means far longer air time and additional skills that allow you to increase your flight height a bit. The ultimate glider sort of makes the glider worth using and I really recommend getting it.
