The mysterious chest is an item which you can get from the new workshop workers in Calpheon: Brahm, Boltz, and Alcott. You can get these chests either by buying them from Boltz for 10 million silver (100g gold bar) or by completing daily quests to get them. Once opened they will drop a single item of some value, from a “Remnant of a Mysterious Chest” to a Tungrad Belt.
Now, the general consensus is that buying these chests is definitely not worth the silver. Through extensive testing, a few players have discovered that you lose about 50-60% of the silver you pay for these chests in the long run. However, as mentioned you can also get them for “free” by completing daily quests. However, before you start getting daily quests from Brahm you first need to complete a series of quests.
How to Get Access to Daily Mysterious Chest Quests
Before you can get access to the daily quests or the ability to purchase the chests you first need to do a series of quests that start at Rubin the Herald in Calpheon. It’s a good idea to bring a 100g gold bar with you so you won’t need to stop at the bank during this questline. Rubin is located in the square just in front of Calpheon’s storage NPC.
The following quests are the ones you need to complete:
- Profitable Information – Given by Rubin
- Selfish Nobles
- You Better Pay Me Back
- Dirt Poor
- Really?
- What is a Mysterious Chest?
- According to What I Know
Once completed you should have one mysterious chest which you can open. You can now also go to Brahm and get a daily quest for him. He offers to quests: ‘Avenge Me’ – where I needed to kill 800 randomly selected monsters which are located in Calpheon, and ‘Not Enough Materials’ – where you need to give him 250 tin ingots and 250 Powder of Darkness.
To get a mysterious chest for “free” you need to select the ‘Avenge Me’ daily quests.
The Contents of the Mysterious Chests.
The mysterious chests can contain the following items:
Chest Name | Each chest randomly contains one item from the list below. |
Mysterious Chest – (Ring) | Tungrad Ring, Eye of the Ruins Ring, Ring of Crescent Guardian, Forest Ronaros Ring, Kagtum Submission Ring, Mark of Shadow, or Remnants of a Mysterious Chest |
Mysterious Chest – (Earring) | Tungrad Earring, Narc Ear Accessory, Blue Whale Molar Earring, Fugitive Khalk’s Earring, Red Coral Earring, Witch’s Earring, or Remnants of a Mysterious Chest |
Mysterious Chest – (Belt) | Tungrad Belt, Valtarra Eclipsed Belt, Orkinrad’s Belt, Basilisk’s Belt, Tree Spirit Belt, Ancient Weapon Core, or Remnants of a Mysterious Chest |

Note that to get the resplendent chest you need to collect 100 remnants of mysterious chests and give them to Alcott. Now since you also always get a single remnant whenever you complete a daily quest it will take anywhere from 50 to 100 daily quests before you get a resplendent chest.
