How to Get a Triple Float Fishing Rod – [BDO]

There are a few ways to get a triple float fishing rod in Black Desert Online besides just buying it from the central market. Annoyingly, they all depend on you completing fishing quests. There are repeatable quests that reward you with the rod and then there are a few single run quests that also have the rod as a reward. All these quests depend on fishing so if you haven’t done much fishing before in BDO you should really start by reading my fishing guide.

The Best Way to Get a Triple Float Fishing rod.

In my opinion, for most players the best way to get a triple float fishing rod ( outside of buying one ) is by completing the “Fish For Villagers” and then the “Sweet Reward!” quests, which are both started from Abelin in Velia. Abelin is located at the docks in Velia as you can see from the image below. It’s possible that you may need to complete a couple of quests starting with Emma Bartali before getting access to these quests, but I am not sure about that point as I may have completed them ages ago.

Note that you also need to have your fishing skill at skilled 5 before you can accept these quests.

The reason for me calling this the best way is the fact that this quest is repeatable every three days and you get three triple floats as a reward for completing them.

Doing the Quest

The “Fish For Villagers” quest itself requires you to take a boat out into the Velia sea to fish four types of fish. These are Grunt, Tuna, Black Porgy, and Spotted Sea Bass, which are all yellow grade fish. To do this you need to get a ship out and sail it around the Velia and Olivia Sea, searching for yellow fish hotspots. The best way to find the rough location of these hotspots is to use Famme’s Map. On it, you can see the approximate location of the hotspots where you get a guaranteed fish of that type. You just need to have the box labeled with “fishing hotspots” checked to see the spots.

Note that your fishing skill has an effect on the number of hotspots you can see, with a higher skill being better. There is also a cut-off at around skilled 5 I believe, where you cannot see these hotspots below that skill level, but as you can’t get this quest anyway before skilled 5 this should not be an issue.

As a side note, I find that I sometimes have a hard time finding yellow fish hotspots with tuna. But you can get tuna as a rare fish from the Epheria sea which, incidentally, is just outside Epheria.

Once you have caught these four types of fish you need to go to the following NPC’s and give them each one of the fish.

  • Igor Bartali – Grunt
  • Alustin – Tuna
  • Bahar – Black Porgy
  • Eileen – Spotted Sea Bass

Once that is done you can return to Abelin to complete this quest and start the “Sweet Reward!” quest. This quest just requires you to go to another NPC which will give you your triple float fishing rods.

Other Ways to Get a Triple Float Fishing Rod.

There is another way to get this fishing rod, but it’s by far harder. You can complete another weekly quest that rewards you with three rods. The difference is that you need to complete a long quest chain starting with “The Charm of Fishing” from Crio in Velia before you get access to this weekly quest.

There are also supposed to be single run quests where you get a rod as a reward, but I haven’t stumbled on them yet. But if you know of any way to get a triple float fishing rod then please tell us in the comments below.

Anyway, that’s all I have on getting a triple float fishing rod in BDO. Good luck in getting your’s and check out my other BDO guides while you’re fishing.
